A tranquil escape on the Delta: Xigera Safari Lodge

The latest African property to join The Red Carnation Hotel Collection is opulent Xigera Safari Lodge, found on the western edge of Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve. Here, you can unwind and take in the unbelievable views of the Okavango Delta floodplains. The architecture features gentle waves and scorched timber cladding that harmonise beautifully with the landscape. Inside, the thoughtfully curated interiors by Toni Tollman, in collaboration with the award-winning Southern Guild gallery, create a captivating atmosphere.

Xigera Safari Lodge features 12 expansive suites, each designed to be unique and inspired by their ancient settings. For families or multi-generational groups, the impressive two-bedroom Family Suite is a perfect choice. To preserve the sense of wilderness and ensure privacy and tranquility for guests, Xigera Safari Lodge is spread across two islands. Each suite is elevated on raised stilts, allowing wildlife and the vital waters of the Okavango Delta to flow freely, and giving you the perfect vantage point for observation.

At Xigera, you can also experience the magic of the Baobab Treehouse. Among indigenous Croton trees, a striking steel structure rises 10 metres above the floodplain, inspired by a painting of a baobab tree by South African artist Jacobus Hendrik Pierneef. Inside, a winding staircase leads to a spacious bathroom on the first level, while the expansive bedroom on the second features carved timber furniture by renowned designers. Canvas walls in both spaces can fully open to the outside or zip closed for privacy, allowing the sounds of surrounding wildlife to drift in through the screened windows.
