Your perfect day in the Seychelles

Four Seasons has opened their second luxury resort in the Seychelles, on the private Desroches Island. Enjoy world-class fishing and diving, visit the island’s Creole village or indulge in a soothing massage at the organic spa – your perfect island holiday awaits.

Does relaxing on a pearly-white sand beach with a cocktail in hand, and taking a dip in topaz blue waters when the mood strikes sound like your perfect holiday? Perhaps cycling through lush forest or going deep-sea fishing is how you prefer to spend your vacation days. Or maybe early morning yoga, followed by a detoxifying facial and lunch of fresh sashimi is more your speed?

You can experience all of this at the new private island paradise, Four Seasons Seychelles at Desroches Island, a 35-minute flight southwest of the main island of Mahé. So, just what would your picture-perfect island day look like?

8am

Waking up in your vintage, retro-inspired beach bungalow or villa you can see the waves crashing from your roomy king-size bed. The rustic, natural wood finishes and bursts of colour on wicker chairs and comfy cushions are throwbacks to a bygone era of 19th century explorers. You decide to take a dip in your private pool before breakfast.

9am

Sitting on the outdoor terrace breathing in the fresh Indian Ocean air, you fuel up on a delicious brekky at Mediterranean-inspired Claudine, the all-day restaurant. Ready for the day ahead you decide to work up a sweat at the ocean-view Fitness Centre, or smash a few serves at the tennis court, or simply find a sun lounger by the beach-side swimming pool to lay down on and read your favourite book.

10.30am

With the kids safely taken care of at the All Seasons supervised child and teen club, you head over to the Castaway Centre to organise a day of snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking or paddle boarding. Or, if you’re the angling type, a spot of fly fishing or trawling can be arranged.

12.30pm

You grab a takeaway snack from The Deli for lunch, and decide to get to know the locals at the Island Conservation Society’s Tortoise Sanctuary. Vulnerable to extinction, 150 Aldabra giant tortoises are cared for here. Next, a visit to the island’s Creole village provides a cultural experience you won’t soon forget.

3pm

A nature walk along a pristine beach followed by a quick afternoon yoga session or deep-tissue massage at the Circle of Connection Spa leaves room for only one possible afternoon activity – a leisurely nap in the hammock strung up outside your bungalow.

6.30pm

A decadent poolside cocktail and round of cigars at The Bar is followed by a romantic steak and seafood dinner at The Lighthouse. It’s movie night, so in the balmy evening air you saunter over to the pop-up screen and take a seat under the stars – there’s nothing to do but sit back and enjoy the film
